Summary: The Cell Collection and Delivery Coordinator is responsible for organizing the transportation details of incoming donor cells and outgoing patient drug product across Orca’s clinical and commercial sites in Sacramento. This role oversees the scheduling of Orca’s internal, material courier resources (Orca Porters) and the alignment with donor and recipient organizations to ensure timely and efficient delivery of materials and adherence to regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Scheduling Orca Porters to retrieve donor materials and transport those materials to Orca manufacturing sites in Sacramento
  • Scheduling Orca Porters to retrieve patient materials from Orca’s Sacramento manufacturing sites and deliver to recipient locations
  • Managing flight and travel itineraries and communicating with porters, airlines, and travel providers
  • Monitoring shipment statuses to address any issues and minimize impact to internal and external parties
  • Communicating expected changes urgently and professionally to all affected parties
  • Ensuring documentation and preparations required for pickups and deliveries are in place
  • Ensuring post-run close out documentation is delivered in a timely manner to the QA department
  • Supporting communications for the timely and secure transportation between Orca employees, porters, and donor or recipient sites
  • Liaise with external couriers and service providers to arrange pickups and deliveries – including troubleshooting in the event of unexpected delays or issues in transit
  • Supporting courier invoice approval and performance monitoring
  • Helping to develop training material and ensuring couriers maintain current training status
  • Evaluating and optimizing the logistics process to improve efficiency and scale the program to business needs
  • Supporting logistics program development initiatives
  • Serving on-call during courier transports to respond to non-routine issues
  • Supporting other duties as assigned

Education & Experience Requirements

  • B.S. in biology, life sciences, logistics or a related field required
  • Proven experience in logistics coordination, preferably in healthcare or biomedical field
  • Understanding of regulatory requirements and guidelines related to the transportation of biological materials is preferred
  • Proficiency in using logistics management software or systems
  • Prior experience in handling cell samples or biological materials is a plus
