The Role
The Release Manager will be responsible for managing release processes and maintaining clear communication between internal teams and external stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of the product development process in technology companies, preferably SaaS and be able to coordinate release schedules, facilitate cross-team alignment, and effectively communicate changes, enhancements, and issue resolutions to both internal and external audiences.
Key Responsibilities:
●Release Planning & Coordination:
○Lead end-to-end release planning, from initial scope definition to final deployment, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timelines.
○Work with Product Management, Engineering and Support teams to coordinate release activities and prioritize features, enhancements, and bug fixes.
○Maintain release schedules and release notes, ensuring consistency, clarity, and timely communication of all updates.
●Internal Communication:
○Serve as the primary point of contact for release-related updates across teams, ensuring relevant stakeholders are informed of timelines, key changes, and potential impacts.
○Document and communicate technical requirements and specifications clearly to cross-functional teams.
○Facilitate internal release readiness reviews, working closely with engineering, product, and QA teams to ensure successful release execution.
●External Communication:
○Manage external communication strategies related to product releases, including client notifications, product updates, and issue resolutions.
○Work with Customer Success and Marketing teams to craft release notes, user guides, and client-facing FAQs.
○Act as a technical spokesperson for product releases, addressing customer concerns and ensuring satisfaction with the deployment process.
●Process Improvement:
○Identify opportunities to improve release management processes and streamline communication flows between teams and stakeholders.
○Develop and enforce best practices for release and change management, ensuring compliance with industry standards and company policies.
Qualifications:
●Experience:
○8+ years of overall work experience,5+ years in Release Management, Product Management, or Project Management within a SaaS environment.
○Previous experience in industries such as AI, Healthcare, or Insurance is highly desirable.
●Technical Understanding:
○Strong understanding of software development, deployment processes, and common SaaS architecture principles.
●Communication Skills:
○Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to distill complex technical information for diverse audiences.
○Experience in managing both internal and client-facing communications.
●Organizational Skills:
○Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities and work under tight deadlines.
●Tools & Software:
○Proficient with release management tools (e.g., Jenkins, Git), project management software (e.g., JIRA, Asana), and collaboration platforms (e.g., Slack, Microsoft Teams).
