Join our operations team as a Factory Service Manager working to fully automate genome engineering. You will be a key member and leader of the Service Engineering team responsible for characterizing and maintaining core automated workflows, developing equipment documentation and SOPs, recommending process and workflow changes and training users in best practices. This role requires a strong attention to detail, collaborative leadership mentality, and experience working with and for both research and clinical labs.
As a Factory Service Manager, you and your team will be frontline support for all production needs. You will lead your team in daily meetings, be a single point of contact for the Service Engineering Group, coordinate calibrations and maintenance, and document and report out metrics for factory health. You will be working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and interdisciplinary laboratory environment, supporting stakeholders involved in adapting quickly to change and new technical challenges.

What You'll Do

  • Frontline support for all production needs. Requests for help will flow through you, be fixed, triaged, or escalated as appropriate
  • Identify and fix the pain points of our equipment. You will know what causes production the most problems, and are excited to dive in and fix it in a way that it doesn’t have lasting issues
  • A general understanding of all Synthego equipment and a deep understanding of how to debug them
  • Prepare and present status updates and reports of key metrics that measure the health of the factory
  • Provide the highest quality of service and support to our regulated clinical laboratory
  • Create, maintain, and review various SOP documentation for training and support
  • Utilizing software systems to manage equipment, documentation, and service schedules
  • Continuously optimize processes to increase both quality and efficiency

About You

  • B.S. in biology or related field or engineering discipline desired
  • 5+ years of industry experience working within biotech industry
  • 3+ years of experience leading both projects and teams
  • Exceptional team player and cross-functional leader with excellent customer service skills
  • An eagerness to understand troubleshoot and solve problems
  • Familiarity with quality assurance protocols
  • Experience developing team members and building out a multi-facility presence
  • Experiencing working within the regulations of a GMP lab is a plus
  • Strong desire to work in a fast-paced, collaborative start-up environment

Nice to Have

  • Experience with liquid handling instruments (Hamiltons, Tecans, etc)
  • Experiencing working within the regulations of a GMP lab is a bonus
  • Previous experience in the Biotech domain
  • Software troubleshooting experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with Python
  • Experience with electronics, especially debugging serial communications (I2C, SPI)
