Who You Are
As a Senior Staff Quality Engineer on the Quality team you will lead in the development, execution, and continuous improvement of Sila’s global quality management system. You are an experienced Quality professional who understands the fundamentals of what enables a world-class quality management system and also understands the needs and realities of a start-up environment. You are a critical and strategic thinker who is able to chart the course and independently drive/execute complex projects in an ambiguous and fast changing environment. You are an excellent communicator who can effectively articulate quality principles to a diverse group of stakeholders.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Lead the development, execution, and continuous improvement of Sila’s global quality management system
- Own the roadmap for Sila’s quality management system, including certification milestones
- Develop and deliver a Quality-related training program to stakeholders across the organization
- Serve as the process owner for one or more quality processes, such as continuous improvement and management commitment & planning
- Simplify and improve Sila’s quality management system, business processes, and operating systems in alignment with business needs
Knowledge and Skill Requirements
- Minimum of 12 years of work experience in Quality, working within an ISO 9001, IATF16949, AS9100, or GMP quality management system; automotive and bulk materials experience preferred
- Standards & Guidelines: Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or IATF 16949; strong auditing experience, both leading internal audits and hosting external audits
- Communication: Excellent oral and written communication skills; strong presentation skills
- Critical thinking: Ability to think deeply and critically in order to solve complex problems and develop strategies within a cross-functional team
- Continuous improvement: Strong knowledge and experience with continuous improvement methodologies; strong track record of successful continuous improvement project execution
- Leadership & Autonomy: Can effectively manage multiple responsibilities, is self-motivated and can work autonomously with minimal guidance; comfortable with ambiguity and eager to create structure; skilled at building workflows and systems from nothing; able to lead cross-functional teams
Physical Demands and Working Conditions
- Wear personal protective equipment including, but not limited to, a lab coat, gloves, safety glasses, and steel toe safety shoes
- Move long distances (such as from building to building) and be stationary for extended periods of time
- Operate a computer and other office equipment, such as a laptop, copier/printer, etc in a fixed location
- Ability to travel 10% of the year
The starting base pay for this role is between $147,000 and $186,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
