Who You Are

As a Buyer at Sila Nanotechnologies, you will play a key role in developing the supply network for Sila’s production manufacturing needs. This position will collaborate closely with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of high quality materials while optimizing costs and maintaining inventory levels. Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, this position will be responsible for maintaining up to date understanding of supply chain management emerging trends, and market trends in the battery materials industry. This role is classified as non-exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act and has no supervisory responsibilities.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Develop and maintain spare parts inventories, including the creation and management of material of master records.
  • Conduct thorough supplier assessments, including capabilities, reliability, and ethical practices, to establish strategic partnerships
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favorable agreements while ensuring quality standards and timely delivery.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, conducting regular performance reviews, and addressing any issues or concerns.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to optimize the supply chain, minimize lead times, and reduce costs.
  • Stay informed about market trends, supply dynamics, and regulatory changes impacting battery materials, providing insights to inform procurement strategies.
  • Identify potential risks to the supply chain, such as supply shortages or geopolitical instability, and develop contingency plans to mitigate these risks.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that incoming materials meet quality specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor inventory levels of materials, coordinating with production schedules to maintain optimal stock levels while minimizing excess inventory.
  • Implement cost-saving initiatives, such as bulk purchasing or alternative material sourcing, to achieve budgetary targets without compromising quality.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, including contracts, purchase orders, and supplier performance metrics.
  • Generate reports to track key performance indicators and support decision-making processes.
  • This position also requires regular and predictable attendance

Knowledge and Skill Requirements

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to report safety accidents, or near misses within 8 hours or less.
  • Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient with Google Suite or related software.
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or related field required
  • Proven experience in procurement, sourcing, or supply chain management preferably within a battery or energy storage facility.
  • Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging trends in supply chain management

Physical Demands and Working Conditions

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • This position may frequently be standing, walking or sitting.
  • Repetitive finger motions for typing, pressing keys, etc.
  • While most of the work is in an office-based setting, there may be occasions where this position may be exposed to different working environments in which include noise, temperature variations, or exposure to chemicals.
  • This position may occasionally stoop, kneel, bend to inspect material quality as it comes in.
  • Regular Shift: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 4:00pm

The starting base pay for this role is between $84,000 and $114,000 at the time of posting. The actual base pay depends on many factors, such as education, experience, and skills. Base pay is only one part of Sila’s competitive Total Rewards package that can include benefits, perks, equity, and bonuses. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
