Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled and creative Instructional Designer to join our team. As an Instructional Designer at Saronic, you will develop comprehensive instructional materials for customer training and for in-house manufacturing processes for our ASV technology. You will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and training teams to design, develop, and deliver high-quality instructional content that facilitates efficient assembly, maintenance, and operation of our autonomous surface vessels.
Responsibilities
- Content Development: Design and develop instructional videos, graphics, technical manuals, and interactive modules, to support customer training and in-house manufacturing processes
- Storyboarding: Create detailed storyboards and scripts for instructional videos and animations, ensuring alignment with learning objectives and technical specifications for manufacturing processes
- Video Production: Use video editing software and production tools to produce high-quality instructional videos, capturing assembly, maintenance, and operation procedures for in-house manufacturing teams
- Graphic Design: Develop visually appealing graphics, diagrams, and illustrations to enhance training materials and technical documentation for manufacturing processes
- Curriculum Design: Collaborate with subject matter experts to define learning objectives, curriculum structure, and assessment strategies for both customer training programs and internal manufacturing training initiatives
- Quality Assurance: Conduct thorough reviews and testing of instructional materials to ensure their accuracy, clarity, and effectiveness
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on emerging instructional design trends, technologies, and best practices to continuously improve the quality and effectiveness of training materials for both customer and internal audiences
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering and manufacturing to determine technical requirements for instructional content development and ensure that technical information and process descriptions are accurate
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Multimedia Design, or related field
- Proven experience in instructional design, with a strong portfolio showcasing instructional videos, graphics, technical manuals, and multimedia content for both customer and internal training purposes
- Apply tested instructional design theories, practice, and methods in order to maximize information retention and knowledge transfer
- Superb written and verbal communication skills and proficiency writing instructional content
- Experience authoring training content in a LCMS or authoring tools such as Storyline, Rise, Captivate along w/ LMS
- Solid understanding of instructional design principles, adult learning theory, and multimedia learning principles
- Experience working with technical subject matter and translating complex concepts into clear and engaging instructional materials for both customer and internal audiences
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams
- Creative problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience designing curriculum and courses for engineering or construction industries preferred
- Prior experience in the defense or maritime industry a plus
