Job Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in tooling, to play a crucial role in the production of cutting-edge autonomous surface vessels for the DoD. You will be at the forefront of designing and developing precision tooling and fixtures, ensuring the efficiency, reliability, and scalability of our manufacturing processes. Collaborating with cross-functional teams, you will contribute to the seamless integration of automation principles into our production lines. Your expertise in tooling design, coupled with a keen eye for process optimization, will be instrumental in shaping the future of maritime technology.

Responsibilities

  • Tooling Design and Development: Conceptualize, design, and develop precision tooling and fixtures for the production of autonomous surface vessels. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand manufacturing requirements and incorporate automation principles into tooling design
  • Process Optimization: Evaluate existing production processes and identify opportunities for improvement through the implementation of advanced tooling solutions. Conduct feasibility studies and cost-benefit analyses to justify tooling investments
  • Prototyping and Testing: Lead the prototyping and testing phases of new tooling designs to ensure functionality, efficiency, and reliability. Work closely with the R&D team to incorporate feedback from prototype testing into final tooling designs
  • Collaboration with Production Team: Work closely with production teams to ensure seamless integration of new tooling into the manufacturing process. Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to resolve tooling-related issues on the production floor
  • Documentation and Compliance: Create comprehensive documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, and manuals for all developed tooling. Ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations related to tooling design and production
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, emerging technologies, and best practices related to tooling in autonomous vehicle production. Propose and implement innovative solutions to enhance production efficiency and quality

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in tooling design and development for manufacturing, preferably in the autonomous vehicle industry
  • Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) for 3D modeling and drafting
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and automation principles
  • Knowledge of DoD standards and regulations related to autonomous vehicles is a plus
