WHAT YOU'LL WORK ON

Our Legal team is small but mighty, and we support the business in a wide array of matters. The Corporate Counsel will play an important role on our Legal team. This role is an individual contributor role and will report to our Deputy General Counsel. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in supporting our sales team by drafting, negotiating, and analyzing contracts. You will also facilitate product development by strategizing with the business teams and negotiating agreements to procure services from other technology providers. You will also work with business development by providing strategic guidance and drafting and negotiating partnerships with industry partners and financial service institutions. You will help our team streamline processes and improve efficiency both for the legal team and for other cross-functional company initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Draft, review, negotiate, and advise on a variety of contracts, including Saas subscription and other technology agreements, partnership, and development agreements, including with underwriters and financial institutions
  • Collaborate closely with the business teams to understand business objectives and provide timely legal advice on contract terms and negotiations
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and communicate potential legal implications to relevant stakeholders
  • Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards in all contractual matters
  • Support the legal team in developing and maintaining contract templates, guidelines, playbooks, and best practices
  • Provide legal training and guidance to internal teams to enhance contract awareness and adherence
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to align on and support strategic initiatives, improve operational efficiency, and drive growth

YOUR BACKGROUND THAT LIKELY MAKES YOU A MATCH

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active bar membership in good standing
  • Three to five years of experience in related in-house legal department and technology-related and/or payments/financial contracting experience or law firm experience
  • Experience in SaaS, platform payments, and fintech
  • Solid understanding of intellectual property, data protection, and privacy issues related to software agreements
  • Proven ability to assess and creatively address or mitigate legal risks in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment
  • Experience with contract management software, such as Ironclad (what we use), Conga, Jaggaer, etc. a plus
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work collaboratively and independently, managing multiple priorities effectively
  • While this role is based in Austin, Texas, we're open to exploring remote possibilities for qualified candidates.

This role has a base annual salary of $220,000-$240,000 plus a competitive equity and benefits package. (Salary to be determined by relevant experience, location, knowledge, and skills of the applicant, internal equity, and alignment with market data.)
