Position Overview: We are seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Shop Floor Manager to oversee both day-to-day shop floor operations and the handling of materials and inventory. This position is critical to ensuring smooth workflow, production efficiency, and inventory accuracy in a fast-paced, quality-driven manufacturing environment. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, organized, and capable of leading shop floor personnel while maintaining tight control over materials movement and stock levels.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Shop Floor Management

    • Supervise daily production activities, ensuring safety, quality, and productivity standards are met.

    • Coordinate scheduling and job assignments for production staff.

    • Supervise and support production floor employees including assemblers, technicians, and material handlers.

    • Facilitate daily production meetings to align on goals and communicate updates.

    • Identify and implement process improvements using lean/5S practices.

    • Assist in onboarding and training of new shop floor staff.

    • Track and report production metrics (e.g., yield, scrap rates, on-time delivery).

  • Safety and Maintenance

    • Enforce workplace safety standards and conduct routine inspections.

    • Coordinate with maintenance staff on equipment repairs or PMs (preventive maintenance)

  • Cross-Department Collaboration

    • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards such as ISO 13485 in all shop operations.

    • Act as the liaison between the floor and leadership, providing updates on progress, issues, and staffing needs.

    • Work closely with the Director of Operations to align production activities with strategic objectives and implement process improvements

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or lead role.

  • Strong organizational and leadership skills with a hands-on, problem-solving mindset.

  • Familiarity with inventory management systems

  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing, 5S, and basic quality control principles.

  • Technical background in mechanical/electrical assembly or biomedical devices.

  • Experience with ISO 13485 and FDA-regulated medical device production.

  • Proficiency in both English and Spanish is preferred.
