About Prepared
Emergency centers, vital to our society, are often constrained by technology that dates back to the landline era. This presents a stark contrast to our current smartphone-centric, socially connected world. At
Prepared, we bridge this gap with cutting-edge technology that harnesses the power of Artificial Intelligence to revolutionize how emergency calls are handled. Our innovative technology is providing a suite of tools that significantly boost the capabilities of 911 dispatch centers and first responders. With our solutions implemented in over 800 cities across 48 states, we're positively impacting the lives of approximately 75 million people.
Backed by $27 million in Series B funding led by Andreessen Horowitz, we're scaling rapidly to become a core component of emergency calls nationwide, driving the future of emergency response toward a safer, more agile system.
Joining the Prepared team means more than just a new role. It's a chance to be at the forefront of impactful tech that significantly improves public safety and touches lives across the globe. At Prepared, you're not just part of a team; you're a key player in a larger mission to foster a safer, more interconnected world.
Position Overview
We are looking for a Senior Product Designer with a proven ability to deliver high-quality work in fast-paced environments. Joining Prepared as our second designer presents a unique opportunity for you to significantly influence the direction of our Engineering, Product and Design (EPD) organization and contribute to our overall vision.
At Prepared, we recognize that many legacy software systems in 911 centers are outdated and inefficient. We are committed to transforming this landscape by crafting seamless and intuitive user experiences that empower our users in their critical work every day. In this role, you'll lead end-to-end design projects, collaborate across teams—including product, engineering, and go-to-market partners—and take on diverse responsibilities that enrich your design expertise.
As an early member of the product team, you'll play a key role in shaping our design culture and processes, ensuring that our commitment to quality and innovation is reflected in everything we create. If you're passionate about making a meaningful impact through design, we invite you to join us on this exciting journey!
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure consistency in experience by designing and maintaining standardization between new products and the existing platform, championing quality and craftsmanship in all design efforts.
- Contribute to a comprehensive design system that aligns with engineering components, ensuring a cohesive user experience.
- Lead end-to-end design projects, overseeing the entire design process from ideation to execution while participating in weekly design critiques to foster feedback and continuous improvement.
- Spearhead usability discovery, taking accountability for all UX and UI workflows and using creative research techniques to de-risk usability ambiguities and inform product strategy.
- Identify opportunities for improvement by analyzing user feedback, prioritizing new features and enhancements, and creating flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity visuals that advocate for a design-centric approach.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with product managers, engineers, and stakeholders to drive high-quality implementation and contribute to overall product direction.
What makes you a great fit:
- You have 4+ years of experience in product design or related fields.
- A strong enthusiasm for design, with a focus on creating effective solutions for UX, UI, and interaction challenges.
- You have a portfolio showcasing high-quality product designs developed in fast-paced environments.
- The ability to think critically and navigate complex interaction design scenarios.
- Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with stakeholders through visuals and prototypes (Prepared uses Figma)
- Experience in working with design systems and ensuring consistency across a suite of products.
- Proficiency in visual design and UI skills, demonstrating attention to detail and creativity.
