Flywheel's suite of digital commerce solutions accelerate growth across all major digital marketplaces for the world's leading brands. We give clients access to near real-time performance measurement and improve sales, share, and profit. With teams across the Americas, Europe and APAC, we offer a career with real impact, endless growth opportunities and the support you need to be the best you can be.

What You'll Do

As a Data Operations Analyst, you will be the guardian of our data quality, acting as a critical link between raw web data and client-facing insights. We're looking for a technical problem-solver with a passion for data quality. This role is perfect for a hands-on specialist who enjoys the "puzzle" of reverse-engineering websites and fixing complex, low-level data issues with precision and efficiency.

Core Operational Responsibilities (Daily Focus):

  • Monitor & Triage: Perform daily health checks on our ETL and Parser data pipelines. You will be the first responder to automated data quality alerts, investigating a high volume of On-Hold jobs and making decisive calls to stop faulty data feeds.
  • Investigate & Diagnose: Dive deep into data anomalies using our internal Detector platform. You'll compare system data against live websites, inspect raw HTML/JSON, and perform root cause analysis to accurately distinguish between parsing bugs, legitimate site changes, and source data errors.
  • Develop, Fix & Optimize: Based on your investigations, you will take direct ownership of fixing the extraction logic. This involves writing, editing, and debugging data extraction patterns using our declarative language, including parsing complex embedded JSON (Jackson JQ).

Development & Expansion Responsibilities:

  • Handle Ad-Hoc Feature Development: Field incoming requests from stakeholders to add new data fields, managing the full development-to-production lifecycle.
  • Lead New Domain Discovery: Manage the end-to-end process for on-boarding new websites, from creating patterns from scratch to coordinating the final release.
  • Test & Release: Adhere to a rigorous QA workflow by running QA jobs to validate all changes against large datasets before release.
  • Document & Collaborate: Maintain meticulous records in Jira and communicate directly with stakeholders to clarify requirements and provide updates.

What You Have

  • Proven experience in data quality, data operations, or web scraping-focused role JSON structures.
  • Hands-on experience writing extraction logic from scratch using CSS Selectors and RegEx, not just using pre-built connectors or low-code tools.
  • Proficiency with JQ for parsing and manipulating complex, embedded JSON objects.
  • A strong focus on performance and optimization, with the ability to write efficient, maintainable patterns that scale.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with an obsessive attention to detail.
  • The ability to work methodically through complex, multi-step technical workflows and adhere to a rigorous QA process.
  • Experience using issue-tracking software, such as Jira.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with a talent for creating clear and concise technical documentation.
  • A strong sense of ownership and the ability to work independently, manage priorities, and escalate issues when necessary.
  • Desirable: Experience with large-scale e-commerce data, particularly from major retailers like Amazon.
