The Team
You are joining the Software Foundations and Applications team (SoFA) where you will be responsible for leading the Cloud Apps team for Outrider’s autonomous trucks. These teams are collaborative and committed to continuous improvement. The Cloud Apps team, made up of full stack software developers, is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining cloud applications for external customers and for internal use at Outrider.
The Role
The Manager - Cloud Apps will report to the Senior Manager of Software Foundations and Applications and support the architecting, planning, and execution of the Cloud Apps team. This position requires proven people management and team-building skills. A successful candidate has attention to detail and an ability to learn and adapt in unstructured environments. It is crucial to have comprehensive technical, cloud architecture, and cloud application development skills. Although this is primarily a management role, it is expected that this individual is capable of, and occasionally writes some application code themselves.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Partner with stakeholders on requirements and to understand their needs, and work cross-functionally with other Outrider teams
  • Support long term planning, scheduling and budgeting
  • Manage the day-to-day of team members
  • Support hiring, mentoring and team growth
  • Lead the development and implementation of Outrider’s product security strategy
  • Contribute generally to the growth and success of the Company and the building of a vibrant culture focused on the responsible deployment of zero-emission autonomous vehicle technology.
  • Effectively partner with others in the organization with thoughtfulness and empathy
  • Occasionally write some application code with the team

Required Qualifications

  • Proven experience managing teams with highly diverse skill sets
  • Experience with hiring and retaining high-impact people from diverse backgrounds with diverse motivations
  • Experience managing a geographically dispersed team across multiple timezones
  • Experience mentoring engineers and other team members
  • Experience evaluating and integrating external services and software
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exceptional organizational skills
  • Full stack web based application engineering experience
  • Ability to participate in writing application code with the team
  • Experience with implementing and supporting secure performant web applications and APIs
  • Experience with preparing for and going through the SOC2 audit process (or similar framework)
  • Experience managing a geographically dispersed team across various timezones
  • 5+ years of technical experience
  • 4+ years of team management experience

Ideal Qualifications

  • Experience with Node.js, React, TypeScript, or similar frameworks/languages
  • Experience with IoT and related technologies
  • Experience with Agile methodologies such as Scrum
  • Experience with applicable security standards such as ISO 21434

Benefits

  • Salary: $170,000 - $250,000
