We're excited to extend that spirit of connection and celebration into our new cafe program in our Abbot Kinney store. We are searching for our Lead Barista who will be responsible for preparing and serving a wide range beverages and soft serve while delivering outstanding customer service. This role will be crucial in creating a kind and inviting atmosphere, giving our patrons a high-quality and memorable experience with our brand.
As the Lead Barista, you'll be the heart of our cafe’s operations, working side by side with our Retail team. You’ll be the coffee and matcha expert, ensuring that every matcha, espresso-based drink, and soft serve is crafted to perfection. This role is perfect for someone who is experienced, dependable, and looking for a stable position with great benefits.

What you'd do at Our Place

  • Create a welcoming and positive atmosphere for every guest, ensuring that each visit is memorable, friendly, and hospitable.
  • Craft high-quality beverages and soft serve, maintaining consistency and adhering to Our Place standards and recipes.
  • Take ownership of weekly inventory counting and placing orders to ensure all supplies are well-stocked
  • Maintain the highest quality standards for all products served, ensuring that everything meets our expectations and delights our guests. We will be using an Eversys espresso machine for efficiency and quality control.
  • Follow and maintain food safety handling procedures.
  • Follows all Our Place policies and procedures.
  • Lead training efforts of new team members when needed
  • Take ownership of the cafe’s setup, flow, and appearance - keeping every surface, station, and storage area spotless and organized in a way that brings pride to the team.
  • Completes accurate and timely customer transactions on the POS while maintaining the security of personal and financial information.
  • Learn about Our Place and our products so you can confidently answer general questions and point customers in the right direction.
  • Work closely with the General Manager and retail team to ensure smooth operations and excellent communication.
  • Participates in store events when needed.

Who you are

  • A barista with minimum 2 years of experience with a solid understanding of coffee and matcha preparation and customer service. While our equipment is automated, your expertise will ensure everything runs smoothly and quality is being monitored closely ongoing.
  • Someone who takes pride in their work, can manage responsibilities independently, and is looking for a great stable position on a collaborative team.
  • Great communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the retail team and management.
  • Ability to lift and move merchandise up to 35lbs
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time (3+ hours)
  • An eye for quality and consistency, ensuring that every drink and customer interaction is top-notch.
  • A flexible schedule, including daytime, nights, and weekend availability
  • Ability to operate a computer and POS/register system
