About Orchestra
Orchestra is creating a new category of software to help biotech and advanced manufacturing companies manage their R&D programs. We aim to bring the same level of sophistication to scientific development that modern tools brought to software development. While software teams can ship updates daily, R&D organizations face unique challenges: years-long development cycles, complex interdependencies, and high-stakes decisions that can make or break billion-dollar programs.
Turning scientific breakthroughs into real-world products requires orchestrating many dimensions of R&D. Teams must coordinate scientific workflows while optimizing resources across multiple programs. Leaders need to plan capital-intensive programs years into the future and model how today's decisions affect their runway. Traditional work management tools, built for software development's quick iterations, break down when faced with these challenges - where a single decision can have ripple effects across years of work and millions in capital.
Founded by early Benchling leaders and backed by top investors including Andreessen Horowitz, 8VC, and Insight Partners, we're tackling this complexity head-on. Our customers are working on some of society's most important challenges - from developing treatments for neurodegenerative diseases and cancer, to scaling up biomanufacturing for sustainable consumer products. We're looking for engineers who are excited about building software that helps scientific organizations operate.
The Role
We're seeking a Senior Frontend or Fullstack Engineer to join our growing team in San Francisco. You'll work with our team to create complex but intuitive products that help R&D organizations make better decisions and bring innovations to market faster.
Challenges You'll Tackle
Complex Decision Making: Build interactive tools that help organizations model different paths to market for their discoveries, assessing complex trade-offs between time, money, and technical risk. Our users need to understand how decisions today affect their programs years into the future.
Organizational Alignment: Create intuitive interfaces that help diverse teams (scientists, program managers, executives) understand how their work connects to broader company goals. This includes designing clear ways to visualize complex dependencies and communicate progress across teams.
Scientific Operations: Design interfaces that scientists and researchers use daily to manage their studies, track progress, and coordinate with their teams. This requires crafting experiences that empower rather than get in the way of work.
AI Powered R&D Management: Build next-generation tools that use AI to help teams generate and evaluate scenarios, identify potential risks before they materialize, and surface insights from across their R&D portfolio.
What Sets You Apart
Creativity: You have deep experience making complex systems understandable through thoughtful interaction design and data visualization. You're excited about creating new ways to help users understand multi-dimensional problems.
Complexity: You've built sophisticated frontend applications that handle complex business logic and data relationships. You understand how to create interfaces that are both powerful and intuitive.
Curiosity: You're genuinely curious about how breakthrough products are developed. Whether it's medicines, sustainable materials, or other physical products, you're excited about building tools that accelerate innovation.
