Description
Mechanical design engineers at Oklo are responsible for the design and verification of structural components. This includes creative conceptual design, engineering analyses, modeling and simulation, selection of materials and manufacturing methodologies, and clear and thorough documentation of the design.

About Oklo compensation:
Salary: $75,000-$154,000
Salary may fall outside of the range provided and will be dependent on applicant experience.

Responsibilities
- Designing and modeling structural components and subsystems.
- Collaborating cross-functionally to define design requirements, and providing technical feedback to quick-iterating design teams.
- Identifying deficiencies in mechanical designs and proactively making improvements.
- Devising analysis methodologies that efficiently and effectively build confidence in a design.
- Performing engineering analysis, which can include thermal, stress, fatigue, tolerance, safety, manufacturability, and cost.
- Planning for manufacturing and assembly of components and subsystems.
- Documenting work using modern tools and techniques, and writing well-written, thoughtful technical reports.
We are looking for a mechanical design engineer that is:
- Passionate about clean energy
- Experienced in mechanical design and manufacturing
- Willing and able to learn quickly
- Eager to work on a dynamic team, receive constructive feedback, and grow with us
- Comfortable in a fast-paced, highly iterative startup environment
- Excited to think creatively, critically, and reflectively about the problems they are solving, while not leaning only on what has been done before
- Able to clearly communicate technical content in writing
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering
- Experience designing mechanical systems and products
- Experience in design for manufacturing
- Proficiency in a CAD software
- Excellent math skills
- Experience with engineering simulation software, such as ANSYS
- Fluency in Python
