We're currently in the midst of the largest wealth transfer in history — an estimated $11T of baby-boomer owned businesses are set to change hands this decade.

Mainshares backs the next generation of operators transferring into the owners’ seats. We work with them to identify business opportunities, connect them with SMB investors and help them manage their acquisitions.

We’re on a mission to ensure the future of America’s small business economy. We believe in its importance for creating wealth and building prospering communities.

About the Role

This is the first full-time design hire at Mainshares. We are looking for someone who can embody our core value: act like an owner. You treat your work as a core piece of your identity, have a drive to win, and are willing to pitch in on any task.

We have a broad and quickly evolving platform, that includes a mix of people, process and software. We need a talented, ambitious design lead to help us build the ideal experience for the operators, investors and partners we support.

As the Lead Product Designer, you will partner closely with product and engineering on designing the capital markets and platform products used by hundreds of SMB operators and investors. You will work closely with our go-to-market and operations teams to provide design templates for sales collateral, email campaigns and other assets.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product and engineering to design intuitive, streamlined experiences for SMB operators and investors

  • Guide the UX of our product through a deep understanding of similar products, user needs, and constant validation with real Mainshares customers

  • Build out design templates and own the style guides used by sales and operations teams

  • Lead the implementation of a design system, with flexible and reusable components, shortening iteration cycles

  • Manage sub-contractors to create more scale for yourself and your impact on the company

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience designing world-class software applications, with end-to-end ownership over critical product areas

  • Proficiency with quickly shipping prototypes and high-fidelity designs in Figma

  • Experience with designing “offline” collateral for use by sales and operations teams

  • You have a reputation amongst past colleagues for aggressively driving output and leading from the front

  • You are driven by mission. You believe in the importance of small business ownership to our country.

Nice-to-Have

  • Past early-stage (seed to Series A) startup experience, with an understanding of the right-sized level of process and perfection to chase

  • Past exposure to financial domains and an understanding of design principles for data intensive applications
