We're currently in the midst of the largest wealth transfer in history — an estimated $11T of baby-boomer owned businesses are set to change hands this decade.

Mainshares backs the next generation of operators transferring into the owners’ seats. We work with them to identify business opportunities, connect them with SMB investors and help them manage their acquisitions.

We’re on a mission to ensure the future of America’s small business economy. We believe in its importance for creating wealth and building prospering communities.

About the Role

We’re seeking a Manager of Operator Growth to join our team and play a crucial role in sourcing and nurturing top-tier Operator Network candidates. You’ll be instrumental in building our network of future American small business owners and operators. Reporting directly to the Head of Operator Network, you’ll leverage your intuition, creativity, and expertise to find and engage the most promising candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Drive growth by utilizing innovative and traditional methods to expand the Operator Network at all levels, including creative sourcing strategies and effective campaigns.

  • Build partnerships by cultivating and maintaining strategic relationships with mission-aligned organizations such as small business associations, non-profits, veteran groups, academic institutions, and trade organizations to enhance network growth.

  • Partner with the Manager of Operator Experience to ensure candidate alignment with program expectations and overall network objectives.

  • Develop, track, and manage growth metrics and targets to achieve network goals and drive continuous improvement.

  • Work closely with the Head of Operator Network to identify and onboard top advisors who will support and mentor future operators.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years in recruiting, community development, or business development, with a proven track record of driving growth from the ground up.

  • Ability to think outside the box and apply creative solutions to achieve growth results.

  • Demonstrated leadership and commitment to mission-driven work, with a high level of determination and resilience.

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a knack for engaging individuals and building meaningful connections.

Nice-to-Have

  • Recognized for being a strong judge of character and a natural networker.

  • Previous experience in small business or community building.

  • You’ve worked at a startup and are used to thinking big and working small.
