We're currently in the midst of the largest wealth transfer in history — an estimated $11T of baby-boomer owned businesses is set to change hands this decade.

Mainshares is building the capital markets platform to finance this wealth transfer. We help hungry SMB operators meet investors, raise capital to buy businesses, and succeed as owners.

Our software platform provides the trust layer between SMB entrepreneurs and investors, handling discovery, compliance, and investment management.

About the Role

We are looking to hire an Engineering Lead to lead development of our capital markets platform. This role involves directly managing 1-3 software engineers as well as leading design and implementation of critical software. You will work closely with our product, design, operations, compliance, and sales teams, but spend most of your time building software.

Our company is fast-paced and entrepreneurial. As an engineering leader, we expect you to set the bar with your work ethic and quality of work.

Responsibilities

  • Architect and develop the capital markets platform for small businesses, covering onboarding, discovery, market-making, and execution.

  • Drive impressive results from hiring, managing, and leading a team of software engineers.

  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product owners to architect solutions to important business problems with the right mix of software and people.

  • Contribute to and take ownership of processes that drive engineering quality and fast delivery against our product roadmap.

  • You have directly managed a few engineers for at least two years.

  • You have a reputation amongst past colleagues for aggressively driving output and leading from the front.

  • You become an expert on the business domain and can effectively collaborate with product and sales when prioritizing and shaping a product. You care more about results than stack or the latest shiny object on HackerNews.

  • You are driven by mission. You believe in the importance of small business ownership to our country.

  • You have successfully recruited great people to your past teams.

Nice-to-Have

  • Past exposure to fintech, marketplaces or SMB domains, with an understanding of the challenges and opportunities in building product for these stakeholders

  • Past work experience using Elixir or another functional programming language.
