We're currently in the midst of the largest wealth transfer in history — an estimated $11T of baby-boomer owned businesses is set to change hands this decade.

Mainshares is building the capital markets platform to finance this wealth transfer. We help hungry SMB operators meet investors, raise capital to buy businesses, and succeed as owners.

Our software platform provides the trust layer between SMB entrepreneurs and investors, handling discovery, compliance, and investment management.

About the Role:

Mainshares is seeking to hire its second account executive to build on the company's current momentum. As an Account Executive, you will source, qualify, and sell Mainshare's Fundraising and Investment Management products to entrepreneurs buying businesses.

This role provides a unique opportunity to leverage your sales skills within private investments to reshape a market that accounts for 40% of the US GDP. You will build relationships with notable banks, private debt/equity funds, serial entrepreneurs, lawyers, etc.

As an early member of the sales team, you’ll be critical in helping us iterate on our pitch and processes as we scale. Internally, you will collaborate with Mainshares engineering, product, operations, and legal to ensure a smooth experience for our users. We're eager for ideas!

Objectives of this role:

  • Manage a healthy inbound pipeline of entrepreneurs searching for businesses.

  • Drive revenue through strategic outbound prospecting, primarily through partners and influential investors.

  • Develop a sales strategy and sales plan that ensures consistent achievement of goals over the short and long term.

  • Work with entrepreneurs to help them evaluate target acquisitions.

  • Develop fundraising strategies alongside an internal financial analyst to enable successful acquisitions.

Characteristics of the ideal candidate

  • Experience working within a fast-paced startup environment

  • Ability to read emotional cues, understand a customer’s needs, and navigate challenging conversations. Purchasing a business is likely the entrepreneur's most significant decision they will ever make

  • History of working in a high-volume inbound customer-facing role followed by a consultative sales approach

  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills

  • Ability to break down and effectively communicate complex topics

  • Have an interest in M&A, the private equity industry, and eagerness to help entrepreneurs buy businesses

Nice to have

  • Previously started a company, side hustle, etc

  • Ability to understand financial statements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or accounting

  • Knowledge of the small business ecosystem and funding options
