The Role

The part-time Corporate Counsel will immediately make an impact on the day-to-day operations of LTSE. Specifically, they will support LTSE’s General Counsel with a broad range of legal matters, including drafting and reviewing contracts, assisting with compliance management, researching legal risks, guiding management on legal issues, advising the team on various corporate legal processes, and taking on additional projects. This part-time, permanent position will typically work 10 hours per week, with the ability to flex up to 20 hours per week as needed.

Note: Due to business needs, we will only be considering candidates who reside in Central or Eastern US time zones.

Responsibilities

  • Contract drafting and review
  • Advising on compliance related matters, and assisting with the development of policies and procedures to maintain compliance
  • Risk assessment and mitigation
  • Communicating legal issues and risks to senior management and other stakeholders
  • Conducting legal research on a project basis
  • Support with Corporate Secretary responsibilities as needed (minutes, drafting consents, etc.)
  • Keeping abreast of legal developments and regulatory changes that may impact the company

Required Skills and Abilities

  • Licensed and in good standing in the state you'll be working from
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Impeccable judgement
  • Ability to collaborate cross functionally
  • You're equally capable of assessing the big picture and accomplishing tactical work

Education and Experience

  • 5-8 years of law firm and in-house experience.
  • Ideally you have experience working in a startup environment and in disruptive industries. You work well in ambiguous situations, effectively manage shifting priorities, and quickly make decisions to keep the business moving forward.
  • A wide range of legal knowledge across multiple areas of law, such as corporate law, compliance, and employment law.
  • Demonstrated ability serving as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience directing outside counsel.
  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment. Experience in the financial services industry, specifically for a nationally regulated securities exchange, is a plus.

LTSE's Compensation Philosophy

In order to support equitable pay and ensure there’s no bias in our compensation process, our philosophy is based on the work being performed. To determine the compensation for the role, we use a data-driven, blended rate approach to ensure we are paying competitively among our peers by benchmarking to companies of similar size and stage and hire at the 50th percentile (midpoint) of the salary range.

Compensation for this role is benchmarked at a rate of $120 per hour.
