Overview

The Payroll Tax Specialist at Joby Aviation will be someone who loves detailed work, is proficient in generating and analyzing a wide variety of payroll reports and can be trusted to protect the company’s most precious data. The Payroll Tax Specialist will interface with everyone in the company, so they must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The job is located out of one of our 3 Bay Area California locations: San Carlos, Santa Cruz, or Marina.

Responsibilities

● Support the bi-weekly payroll cycle, such as timecard review and pay data imports
● Manage Payroll Tax compliance and reporting for all filing frequencies
● Subject matter expert in submitting prior quarter adjustments and tax amendments
● Coordinate year-end efforts to ensure accurate W-2s and other annual tax filings
● Ensure proper setup and maintenance of local withholding codes for employer and employees in the payroll system
● Monitor and stay up to date with changes in federal, state, and local payroll tax laws, regulations, and compliance requirements
● Conduct regular payroll tax audits and reviews for accurate tax funding to ensure compliance
● Identify and participate in payroll process improvement projects, as needed
● Provide a consistent, high level of customer service

Required

● BA/BS degree or equivalent practical experience
● Minimum (3+) years of payroll tax multi-state and federal compliance
● 2+ years of ADP Workforce Now experience
● Intermediate Excel skills (SUMIFs, Pivot Tables, Index/Match, VLOOKUP...)
● Experience as a results-oriented professional with a keen sense of urgency and attention to detail
● Excellent problem-solving skills, analytical mindset with good judgment

● Ability to prioritize workload, multi-task, meet all deadlines, and work well under pressure in afast-paced environment
● Excellent organizational skills

Desired

● Bilingual (Spanish)
● 2+ years of startup experience
● Fundamental understanding of Accounting and Finance
● CPP/FPC certification is a plus

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $80,000 - $106,600/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
