The Senior Fabricator & Welder is responsible for leading the fabrication, welding, and assembly of high-quality metal components and structures in accordance with design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines. This role combines advanced technical expertise with leadership, problem-solving, and mentorship to ensure precision craftsmanship, efficiency, and continuous improvement across fabrication processes. The Senior Fabricator & Welder plays a critical role in maintaining quality control, optimizing workflow, and supporting the successful delivery of complex projects while upholding the highest standards of workmanship and safety.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform complex welding and metal fabrication using aluminum, steel, and stainless steel (MIG and TIG)
  • Set up welding equipment (amperage, voltage, wire speed, etc) maximizing efficiency and effectiveness per application
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, weld symbols, and GD&T
  • Prepare all materials prior to welding including cutting grinding and fixturing
  • Creative input on fixture design concepts for ideal part fit-up, create and evaluate prototype fixtures
  • Acts independently to determine optimal fabrication methods and procedures on new assignments
  • Support the first article inspection and dimensional validation of fabricated parts
  • Prepare welded assemblies for cosmetic finishing using grinding and sanding
  • Monitor shop material usage and support inventory tracking of consumables and raw stock
  • Track and record daily operations using the work request portal
  • Ensures housekeeping is maintained throughout the shop
  • Work overtime and weekends (if required)
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area in alignment with ICON’s safety culture.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Welder Certification (preferred) proficient in welding aluminum.
  • Minimum 5 years of full-time welding/ fabrication experience.
  • Ability to train others in welding best practices and standard operating procedures
  • Passionate about quality workmanship in fabricating and welding
  • Strong work ethic

  • Strong verbal communication skills
  • Flexible, ability to work in a fast pace constantly changing environment with long hours
