ICON is looking for a Senior Prototype and Testing Technician to help in the development of ICON’s latest print systems on the Sustaining Team. This team is responsible for maintaining and upgrading the Vulcan printer. As a Technician at ICON, you will be in a hands-on development role impacting the creation and support of well-designed, maintainable systems. This role is based at ICON’s Austin, TX office.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct test plans and create test reports.
  • Component and subsystem-level testing (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls.)
  • Creating and communicating test reports internally.
  • Prototype components and assemblies with both mechanical and electrical aspects based on engineering drawings.
  • 3D Printed components, Metal fabrication, electro-mechanical assemblies, wire harness fabrication.
  • Aid in the implementation of engineering change orders in the field (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls)
  • Help create and train installation work instructions
  • Providing QC audits and creating adherence reports
  • Provide support in the field by troubleshooting and documenting issues (Mechanical, Electrical, Controls).
  • Provide in-field support with the aid of Tier 3 engineers.
  • Troubleshoot issues with mechanical, electrical, and control systems.
  • Document issues seen in the field by first-hand experience as well as communications with operations and ESS.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum 6+ years experience in a related field of mechanical engineering, product, or technician roles.
  • Must have experience building and assembling complex electro-mechanical, fluid, or structural systems.
  • Experience with the following mechanical systems: pumps, AC motors, gears, air compressors, pressure vessels, and lifting equipment.
  • Experience with fabrication and operation of mechanical hardware including torque wrenches, drills, welding, fasteners, and gear chains.
  • Experience with the fabrication of electrical harnessing and wiring systems
  • Experience operating electrical equipment such as multimeters and power supplies
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:

  • Associate's Degree in mechanical engineering technology, mechatronics, electronics technology, or related field.
  • Experience with Beckhoff Twincat PLC systems.
  • Ability to conduct and report on engineering test plans.
  • Ability to train personnel on work instructions and verify workmanship.
  • Physical/Environmental Requirements
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be prepared to work, in part, in extreme environments: Temps > 100 degrees or below freezing, sun, rain, mud, lack of electricity, etc.
