Computational Geometry Engineer

iCOMAT is an ambitious advanced manufacturing company with game changing technology and critically people with the imagination and drive to grow a business that will enable manufacturers in the aeronautics, automotive and space sectors to reduce significantly the weight and improve the efficiency of their products🚀

In addition to developing cutting edge hardware, ICOMAT is also committed to developing it's own proprietary software. This will form an essential part of the manufacturing process flow, from design right through to final part production, so this is an incredible opportunity to join the team and help shape our software from the beginning.

As the Computational Geometry Engineer you will get to work with our experts in the design team, gather requirements, and help develop new software that will help enable iCOMAT to become a software enabled hardware business.

What will you be doing? 🤔

    • Executes creative software solutions, design, development, and technical troubleshooting with ability to think beyond routine or conventional approaches to build solutions or break down technical problems
    • Develop robust, performant engineering design and manufacturing software tools including building new applications & enriching existing applications using the most suitable technology choices. Align development with the overall business activities.
    • Work across entire software development lifecycle - requirements gathering, design, implementation, testing, deployment, handover to operate teams.
    • Work closely with other engineering teams to develop components in C++ or Python.
    • Enhance the team by demonstrating best practice throughout the software development lifecycle: testing, code review, accurate status reporting, focus on application resilience and "silent running".
    • Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others.

What do we need from you? 💪

    • Familiarity with CAD/CAM, BREP modelling and meshing
    • Familiarity with computational geometry
    • Excellent BSc, MSc or PhD in Computing, engineering, or a related discipline coupled with strong mathematical skills
    • Imaginative and inquisitive mind, eager to learn new skills and to develop solutions for interesting and complex problems.
    • Experience working in a team with a strong software development process (build, test, deploy etc)
    • 3+ years experience
    • Languages: Python, C, C++
    • Ability to own numerous parallel tasks, to manage competing priorities with transparency, and to communicate effectively with diverse partners; applicants will therefore need to demonstrate excellent organizational and communication skills.
    • Ability to work in a distributed team and deliver results quickly

    Even better if you have:

    • Prior experience of supporting business partners in sales processes, business management and engineering and manufacturing activities would be advantageous.
    • A desire to learn more about composites design and manufacturing

We’ve completed multiple technology validation programmes (with the European Space Agency, Airbus, Jaguar Land Rover, BAE Systems, F1 Teams) and are in the process of executing on the first production opportunities with leading OEMs. We’re edging towards becoming a significant scale-up with growth plans that will see the business multiply in size over the next 2-3 years and expand operations into Europe and the US! 📈
