Summary

As a Sales Engineer at Hummingbird, you will play a critical role in shaping how clients understand and engage with our services. You’ll partner closely with the Growth and Performance Transformation team to lead discovery sessions, design thoughtful and tailored solutions, and translate client goals into compelling implementation plans, proposals, and statements of work.

Acting as the connective tissue between client needs and our internal capabilities, you’ll bring together input from across the organization to craft high-impact sales materials that clearly articulate our methodology, approach, and value. This role is both strategic and hands-on, requiring excellent communication skills, strong business acumen, and the ability to navigate complexity and ambiguity with confidence.

Responsibilities

Product Knowledge and Positioning

  • Maintain expert knowledge of Hummingbird implementation methodologies, services, and technology capabilities.

  • Monitor client trends and feedback to identify service gaps and share synthesized insights to inform positioning strategy, support continuous improvement, and drive innovation.

  • Stay current on Service Development roadmaps and upcoming service releases to ensure accurate solution design.

  • Contribute to internal knowledge assets that improve pre-sales effectiveness and consistency.

  • Maintain knowledge of Hummingbird engagements and outcomes.

Solution Design

  • Apply Hummingbird’s client journey and product framework to create tailored solution designs based on discovery inputs.

  • Develop high-level service recommendations, including proposed scope, value to client, implementation resource needs, phasing, and timelines.

  • Collaborate with CSEs and Hummingbird leaders to define strategic direction for pursuits.

  • Ensure alignment between proposed services and client maturity, readiness, and goals.

  • Adapt solution designs as client needs evolve during the pre-sales process.

Proposal Writing & Documentation

  • Lead drafting of Services sections of proposals and statements of work using available service specifications.

  • Partner with Growth, Service Development, and subject matter experts to fill content gaps.

  • Clearly articulate implementation approach, value proposition, and service outputs.

  • Partner with Growth to maintain consistency, accuracy, and polish across all client-facing sales materials.

  • Manage document review processes and version control across stakeholders.

  • Communicate service specification updates to Service Development team to ensure they are the source of truth for Hummingbird services.

Access Insights Engagement Support

  • Serve as lead for Access Insights engagements with Hummingbird clients.

  • Facilitate discovery and maturity assessment sessions for early-stage client engagements.

  • Lead development of sequenced implementation plans aligned to client roadmaps.

  • Translate Access Insights outputs into actionable SOW components and timelines.

  • Work closely with implementation and operations teams to ensure alignment of roadmap and capacity.

Opportunity Management Support

  • Lead product and implementation methodology overviews and deep-dives to illustrate capabilities and alignment with client needs on sales calls.

  • Coordinate sales pursuit timelines and deliverables with CSEs and Growth leadership.

  • Participate in Deal Desk meetings to surface open issues, secure approvals, and align stakeholders.

  • Consolidate and document sales inputs to support pricing, delivery, and decision-making processes.

  • Ensure smooth handoffs between Growth and delivery teams through strong documentation.

Required & Desired Skills

Employment Eligibility: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Compensation: $122,000 - $149,00 per year less statutory deductions

Work Location: This position is remote. You must work from a location within the United States with consistent internet service.

Travel: 25-30% for client visits, training, and company events

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience in healthcare sales engineering or solution design roles.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of Epic access product capabilities and third-party systems.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of contact center technology.

  • Deep familiarity with ambulatory patient access workflows, healthcare contact center operations, and related domains.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead client discovery and design customized service solutions.

  • Experience completing client maturity assessments.

  • Strong written communication skills with a track record of drafting proposals and SOWs.

  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and manage deliverables with multiple stakeholders.

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Certification in 1 or more Epic access applications.

  • Knowledge of pricing processes and service-based cost modeling tools.

  • Understanding of healthcare technology platforms or managed service models.

  • Background in sales support, proposal management, or business development.

  • Comfort working in a fast-paced, evolving environment with ambiguity and shifting priorities.
