Summary
As a Sr. People Relations Consultant at Hummingbird, you’ll serve as a key partner in supporting a respectful, fair, and inclusive workplace culture. You will guide managers through conflict resolution and workplace issues while ensuring adherence to policies, fair application of employment practices, and proactive resolution of concerns. This role strengthens the employee experience through equitable processes, timely responses, and data-informed insights.Acting as a program owner, and trusted partner to the business, you will support the delivery and evolution of employee relations programs, guide managers through workplace issues, and ensure all practices reflect Hummingbird’s values while promoting fairness, consistency, and compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution
Partner with managers to address and resolve employee concerns in a consistent, respectful, and compliant manner.
Provide guidance on effective resolution techniques, including coaching, feedback delivery, and restorative conversations.
Facilitate transparent processes that ensure all employees feel heard and respected during workplace conflicts.
Identify and address emerging patterns or recurring issues that may impact team morale or operational integrity.
Investigation & Grievance Management
Conduct thorough, impartial investigations into workplace complaints, policy violations, and employee grievances.
Document findings and recommendations clearly, ensuring consistency and legal defensibility.
Act as a trusted resource to ensure all parties are treated fairly and understand their rights and responsibilities.
Manage sensitive information with the highest level of discretion and confidentiality.
Policy Compliance & Risk Mitigation
Educate and coach managers on company policies, legal requirements, and HR best practices.
Promote a culture of accountability by reinforcing consistent application of workplace policies.
Draft and revise policies to reflect regulatory requirements, industry standards, and organizational values.
Design and conduct internal compliance audits to mitigate risk.
Identify gaps or risks in current practices and recommend proactive policy or process adjustments.
Stay current on employment law developments and ensure policy materials remain up to date.
Employee Support & Workplace Culture
Support employees in navigating workplace concerns with clarity and confidence.
Recommend improvements to policies and tools that contribute to a positive and supportive environment.
Contribute to initiatives that enhance employee engagement, trust, and retention.
Partner with the People Experience team to align employee relations efforts with the broader employee lifecycle.
Process Improvement & Reporting
Maintain accurate documentation of cases, trends, and outcomes to inform HR strategy.
Identify root causes of employee relations issues and recommend systemic changes where needed.
Develop and refine ER workflows for efficiency, accessibility, and clarity.
Collaborate cross-functionally to continuously improve the employee experience through fair and transparent ER practices.

Required & Desired Skills
Employment Eligibility: Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation: $91,000 - $111,250 based on experience.
Benefits Eligible: Yes.
Travel: 1-2 trips per year for company events and training
Working Hours: Alignment with client work hours within the US.
Work Location: This position is remote. You must work from a location within the United States with consistent internet service.
Required Skills and Experience
5+ years of employee relations and HR experience with increasing responsibility.
Demonstrated experience conducting investigations and advising on policy compliance.
Strong knowledge of employment law, workplace practices, and conflict resolution principles.
Excellent interpersonal, documentation, and judgment skills.
Desired Skills and Experience
Experience supporting a fully remote or distributed workforce.
Prior use of Workday or similar HRIS tools to manage documentation and processes.
Certification in employee relations, mediation, or workplace investigations (e.g., SHRM-CP, AWI, etc.).
Experience managing unemployment claims across multiple states, ensuring timely responses and compliance with varying state regulations.
