Harbor Health looking for skilled Lead Medical Assistants (MAs) to become a member of our team. Lead Medical Assistants will function as a regional trainer for MA staff in clinics within their assigned region to ensure core competencies of the staff are managed and maintained. Working with the Medical Assistant Manager, Lead MAs will ensure and manage quality adherence of the MA staff to Harbor policies and standard operating procedures, and work to develop and maintain efficient patient flow and quality care during clinic hours.

Our Lead MAs will be responsible for:

  • Onboarding and training MAs within assigned region
  • Collaborating with the MA Manager to implement and train staff on a rolling core curriculum throughout the year
  • Ensuring standardization in MA functions and workflows are maintained across clinics
  • Working with Clinic Regional & Site Manager and Clinic Nurses to manage the implementation of new workflow and product roll outs for MAs
  • Float to cover staffing needs in their assigned region
  • Perform MA duties, including:
    • Collaborating with the clinical team to execute care tasks as ordered by our providers.
    • Delivers care in accordance with the member's care plan.
    • Completing opening and closing tasks each day to prepare for daily operations.
    • Supporting the care team to ensure clients’ needs are met and hand-offs are appropriately conducted.

Successful Lead MAs will have:

  • High School Degree or equivalent
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in primary care
  • 1 year of progressive supervisory or leadership experience
  • Current driver's license and auto insurance proof
  • BLS Certification
  • Computer skills with the ability to enter information in the EMR system and compile reports or data as requested
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English
  • Skill in providing excellent customer service and support; organizing and prioritizing workload and meeting deadlines; and excellent written and verbal communication
  • Ability to interact effectively and professionally with persons from diverse cultural, socioeconomic, education, racial, ethnic, and professional backgrounds
  • Ability to work effectively with managers, co-workers, members of the public and professional groups
  • Ability to communicate effectively, clearly, concisely with others (internal and external customers, both verbally and in writing), consistently demonstrate positive/proactive customer service attitude
  • Consistently maintains ethical behaviors exemplary of quality public service and fair standards, inclusively, among all employees and members of the public
  • Ability to work as an effective team member; function independently, exercise sound judgment and initiative; be flexible to shift priorities; maintain confidentiality; establish and maintain effective interpersonal work relationships, and effectively assist providers

Additional Skills & Experiences Preferred include:

  • Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field
  • Bilingual English/Spanish
  • Experience with Phlebotomy

Physical Requirements of the role include:

  • Traveling via personal transportation to clinic locations within assigned region
  • Working irregular hours Physically demanding, moderate-stress environment
  • Exposure to blood and body fluids, communicable diseases, chemicals, radiation, and repetitive motions
  • Pushing and pulling heavy objects
  • Full range of body motion including handling and lifting clients
  • Position requires light to moderate work with 50 pounds maximum weight to lift and carry
  • Position requires reaching, bending, stooping, and handling objects with hands and/or fingers, talking and/or hearing, and seeing
