The Employee Health Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in maintaining and promoting the health and wellness of company employees. This position involves a combination of clinical and administrative tasks, including performing health screenings, managing employee health records, and supporting wellness initiatives. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical assisting, excellent organizational skills, and a passion for employee health and safety.

Our Employee Health Medical Assistant will be responsible for:

  • Clinical Duties:
    o Assist with conducting pre-employment physicals, and other occupational health
    assessments, such as N95 Fit Tests.
    o Administer vaccinations, titers, and lab tests as needed
    o Assist healthcare providers during examinations and procedures
    o Measure and record vital signs, medical histories, and other relevant information
    o Provide first aid and emergency care as needed
    o Perform related duties as assigned, within your scope of practice
  • Administrative Duties:
    o Schedule and coordinate appointments, follow-ups, and referrals
    o Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records and documentation
    o Handle and manage confidential employee health information in compliance with
    HIPAA and Texas Bill 300 Regulations
    o Assist in the management of workers’ compensation claims and follow-up care
    o Monitor and order medical supplies and equipment as needed
    o Prepare and distribute educational materials related to health and safety
  • Health & Safety Programs:
    o Participate in the development and implementation of workplace wellness programs
    o Assist with ergonomic assessments and workplace hazard evaluations
    o Provide education and training to employees on health and safety practices
  • Communication & Collaboration
    o Act as a liaison between employees, healthcare providers, and the occupational
    health team
    o Communicate effectively with employees regarding their health and safety concerns
    o Collaborate with Human Resources, Quality, and Safety departments on health-
    related matters

Successful Employee Health Medical Assistants will have:

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Medical Assistant Certification
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Strong organizational and time-management abilities
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • CPR and First Aid certification required

Additional Skills & Experiences Preferred include:

  • Proficiency in Athena electronic medical records (EMR) systems and Google Suite
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a medical assistant role, preferably in an employee
    health setting
  • Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patient care
  • Organize and administer Seasonal Flu Vaccine
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace health & safety practice

Physical Requirements of the role include:

  • Ability to travel a minimum of 30% to all clinics
  • Capability to lift and carry medical supplies and equipment
  • Manual dexterity to perform clinical tasks
