The Opportunity

The Senior Material and Logistics Planner is a critical role responsible for the efficient flow of materials throughout Halo Industries' operations, from receiving raw materials to shipping finished goods. This role involves managing and optimizing all material handling and logistics processes, ensuring inventory accuracy, and supporting production and shipping activities. The planner will collaborate with cross-functional teams to streamline supply chain operations, resolve issues, and contribute to the company's rapid expansion and success in the semiconductor industry. This role requires a proactive individual with strong organizational and problem-solving skills, capable of thriving in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of supply chain principles, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of successfully managing materials and logistics within a manufacturing setting.

Role and Responsibilities:

Receiving Operations: Primary point of contact for all receiving matters, ensuring compliance and resolving any specific issues. This includes coordinating with suppliers, managing receiving documentation, and ensuring materials are received in accordance with quality standards and purchase order requirements

  • Inbound Material Handling: Own and optimize the end-to-end process of receiving all incoming materials, ensuring timely unloading, accurate verification against purchase orders, and meticulous attention to detail. Proactively identify bottlenecks and propose data-driven solutions to enhance the inbound material flow.
  • Staging & Sorting: Ensure efficient and organized temporary staging of materials, optimizing staging locations for accessibility and preventing congestion. Proactively communicate and resolve any staging challenges that could impact downstream processes.
  • Sorting: Ensure accurate and timely sorting of received materials based on defined criteria, understanding the downstream impact of errors and implementing preventative measures. Continuously explore and implement opportunities for streamlining the sorting process.
  • Put Away: Manage the accurate and timely movement of sorted materials to their designated storage locations, optimizing put-away routes for efficiency and accuracy. Investigate and resolve any inventory discrepancies arising from put-away processes.
  • Ingot Receiving: Ownership of the specialized procedures for receiving raw ingot materials, demanding meticulous handling, thorough inspection according to protocols, and precise documentation.

Inventory Control using NetSuite:

  • Production Consumables Inventory: As the owner of raw materials and components inventory accuracy within NetSuite, proactively track, diligently manage locations, and anticipate replenishment needs to prevent production disruptions.
  • Wafer Inventory: Assume full responsibility for the accurate tracking and management of processed wafers in NetSuite, maintaining precise records of quantities, lot numbers, quality status, and locations. Implement and enforce robust procedures to ensure wafer traceability, minimize loss or damage, and optimize storage.
  • Equipment Spares Inventory: Take ownership of the spare parts and components inventory in NetSuite, focusing on maintaining optimal stock levels to minimize equipment downtime while avoiding excess inventory.

Shipping Procedures:

  • Shipment Standard Operating Procedure (SOP): Be responsible for the accurate and consistent execution of the detailed SOP for all outgoing shipments, including rigorous order verification, secure picking and packing, precise labeling, thorough documentation, and seamless carrier handover. Critically evaluate the SOP to identify any ambiguities or inefficiencies and proactively propose data-backed improvements.
  • Wafer Packaging: Own the implementation and continuous improvement of specific procedures and the utilization of appropriate materials for packaging wafers, demonstrating a deep understanding of their fragility and handling requirements to ensure safe transit and minimize damage.

Transportation Carriers:

  • Small Parcel Direct Carriers: Primary point of contact for utilizing carriers like FedEx and DHL, understanding their service levels, managing shipment preparation according to their requirements, and proactively resolving any delivery issues. Evaluate carrier performance data to identify trends and recommend improvements in cost and efficiency.
  • Freight Forwarding Services: Take full ownership of the coordination with freight forwarders such as Expeditors for larger shipments, ensuring meticulous management of documentation (including customs), strategic carrier selection based on cost and transit time, and proactive communication to guarantee smooth and timely delivery.
