ABOUT US

Galileo is a team-based medical practice working to improve the quality and affordability of health care for all. Operating across 50 states, Galileo offers high-touch, data-driven, multi-specialty, longitudinal care to diverse and complex patients—on the phone, in the home, and everywhere in between. Regional and national health plans, employers, and Fortune 500 organizations trust Galileo as the leading solution to improve population health. Founded by Dr. Tom X. Lee, the healthcare pioneer behind One Medical and Epocrates, Galileo is a team of leading innovators from healthcare, technology, and human-centered design. Our mission is to apply that talent and scientific thinking to transform society by solving our largest, toughest healthcare problems, while at the same time bringing patient and provider closer.

About the Role

Reporting to the Specialty Services Director, the Virtual Doula conducts prenatal and postpartum doula consultations on Galileo’s proprietary telemedicine platform. We are seeking an experienced NM-based doula with strong ties to the community to join our digital team on a contracted/per diem basis. The Virtual Doula will partner with a strong clinical team to supplement our pregnancy and postpartum telemedicine services for New Mexico Medicaid members statewide.

Must Live in New Mexico or within 100 miles. Schedule blocks and hour requirements will vary based on patient demand: scheduled daytime/evening visits, no call, and potential for up to 15 hrs/week. No exclusivity agreement is required.

Here’s what you’ll do

  • Provide professional doula consultations via video visits on Galileo’s telemedicine platform for pregnant and postpartum patients
  • Leverage professional expertise to deliver education, support pregnancy and parenting goals, and empower patients and families through self-advocacy
  • Document doula consultations in our proprietary EMR and billing system (with support from our in-house billing team)
  • Collaborate with our perinatal clinical team, including Nurse Practitioners, Family Medicine physicians, and Care Navigators, to support high-quality care, shared decision-making, and patient self-efficacy
  • Use interpersonal and motivational skills to maximize patient engagement across the perinatal journey
  • Identify and escalate clinical concerns to Galileo’s provider team
  • Refer patients to local doula resources for in-person support

About You

You are an innovative thinker committed to expanding access to doula support via a clinically-integrated virtual care team. You bring deep experience supporting diverse and complex patient populations to achieve positive, empowering pregnancy journeys through empathy, education, and advocacy. You leverage a service mindset to develop enduring, trusting relationships with patients and colleagues and honor the cultural and social heritage of the families you serve.

We would love to hear from you if you have the following or equivalent experience

  • 1+ years experience as a prenatal, postpartum, or birth doula
  • Reside in New Mexico or border counties within 100 miles
  • Ability to meet eligibility criteria for New Mexico Medicaid doula credentialing
  • Technologically savvy with Electronic Medical Records, Google Suite, and Slack
  • Spanish-language proficiency is a bonus but not required
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a track record of effectively serving historically marginalized individuals and those with complex needs
  • Advanced patient-facing communication skills that enable the translation of complex ideas into simple language, foster trust and encourage ongoing engagement
  • Interdisciplinary relationship-building skills, mainly focused on communication across teams, trust development, and creatively solving complex problems
  • A “hospitality mindset” that drives empowering, positive experiences for patients and families
