About the Opportunity
We are seeking an experienced Senior Frontend Software Engineer to join Flywheel’s dedicated and collaborative development team. This is a unique opportunity to work with a growing team to build a large scale application, consisting of a UI, API, SDK, and CLI for sharing and curating scientific and medical data. Tools you build will be used to empower scientists and researchers to enhance their workflow efficiency and sharing capabilities. Successful applicants will have a passion for problem-solving, teamwork, and delivering quality results. This role requires a strong UI development background with technical experience working with a variety of technologies such as:
Angular, Typescript
Figma, Auth0
Python 3 APIs and kubernetes
Cloud providers: AWS, Google, and Azure
MongoDB, ElasticSearch
Git, CI/CD specifically GitLab

This role works closely with a cross functional product team and business stakeholders. The team operates within a flexible Agile process and is empowered to alter it as needed to achieve team and company objectives.

Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve existing applications primarily written in Angular/AngularJS.
- Collaborate with UX Design, Product Management, and Quality Assurance teams to develop features and improvements to the Flywheel products that exhibit quality and efficiency.
- Work with team members to establish data contracts that suit UI needs.
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve UI/UX issues.
- Inform architectural decisions and planning for complex projects.
- Meet standards in code quality and testing set forth by the team, and make suggestions for improvements.
- Collaborate daily across a geographically dispersed development team.
- Mentor other engineers and share knowledge in a variety of forms.
What would make you a great fit
- 5+ years of experience working in frontend web development.
- Proficiency in TS/JS/CSS/HTML.
- Experience working closely with UX designers and design systems.
- Working knowledge of the Angular 12+ framework and its design paradigms.
- Understanding of best practices working with RESTful APIs.
- Experience building applications that handle large file transfers and interact with cloud storage services like GCS, S3, etc.
- Proven track record of elevating and mentoring other engineers.
- Feel passionate about writing quality code.
- Thrive in a collaborative and dynamic environment.
- Have a habit of documentation to share your knowledge and learn from past experiences.
- Driven by curiosity and creative problem solving.
- Have an urge for delivering to deadlines and iterating efficiently.
