About Filmhub? 🎬

Filmhub is where modern filmmakers distribute their titles directly to streaming services – without giving up rights and without the middlemen of the traditional industry. Founded by Hollywood composer and innovator Klaus Badelt and Silicon Valley entrepreneur Alan d’Escragnolle, Filmhub takes the entire distribution process online. Filmmakers list their titles and Filmhub's Channel Partners – such as Amazon Prime Video, Freevee, The Roku Channel, rlaxx TV, TCL, Tubi, Xumo, and Plex – use the platform for discovery, automated licensing, asset fulfillment, and payment processing.

What's the opportunity? 🤔

Filmhub is seeking a top UI/UX Designer to elevate our visuals and transform our software into a beautiful and easy-to-use product. We are looking for a forward-thinking digital creative with a deep understanding of front-end code.

Filmhub is not just another producer tool. We offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to change the whole film industry. Filmhub runs on a powerful mission: to democratize the content distribution process, giving a voice to a wide variety of creators who otherwise have to compete in a hostile environment. We can do this only with cutting-edge technology and design.

If you have a portfolio of professional design projects that includes work with web and/or mobile applications, we’d like to meet you.

What will I be doing? 🚀

You will be responsible for creating digital product designs for various platforms, including web and mobile. Your responsibilities include gathering user patterns, creating visual flows, and designing the overall look and feel of our products, down to pixel-perfect screens and components.

Other key responsibilities include:

  • Create the UI components and product design for our web and mobile applications, including pages to components like menus, tabs, widgets, navigation and search

  • Use modern design tools like Figma to create and present UI designs, storyboards, process flows, and sitemaps

  • Develop UI design mockups and prototypes that clearly illustrate how sites function and look like

  • We are a start-up, so you would also be doing marketing and brand design

  • Increment on and use the Filmhub Design System, as the reusable “bible” for our product aesthetics, including layout, palette, fonts, components etc.

  • Deeply understand the needs of our filmmakers and internal stakeholders - talk to them, visit them, study their product usage patterns, and conduct other research as necessary

  • Communicate closely with the product and development team to fully understand "who" you are building for and the "why" behind what you are building

  • Beta test new features and work with engineers to refine them until they are ready for users

  • Conduct regular design reviews, gathering feedback from internal teams and stakeholders and drive decision-making for product and feature improvement

  • Adjust designs based on user feedback

  • Identify and troubleshoot UX problems (e.g. responsiveness, flow issues, ambiguities etc.)

  • Adhere to style standards on fonts, colors and images

  • Continue education and research into current UX trends, patterns, design strategies, and technologies

  • Provide input on the future direction of the product experience

What skills do I need? 📖

  • 3-5 years of demonstrated experience in creating and implementing UI and graphic design

  • Compelling portfolio

  • Native English speaker or native-like control of the English language. Language is part of design.

  • Expert knowledge of layouts, web design, graphic fundamentals, typography

  • You keep up-to-date with graphic design and wireframe tooling and the latest developments in common user interface patterns.

  • Experience designing wireframes, components and creating design systems

  • Experience with and functional understanding of front-end coding, component libraries like Chakra UI, and HTML and (S)CSS in general

  • Expert in Figma (preferred) or similar visual design tools (Framer, Sketch, Adobe XD, Photoshop etc.)

  • Up-to-date with the latest established UX/UI patterns and trends

  • Ability to prioritize and manage several milestones and projects efficiently

  • Account for challenges using problem-solving skills and seek to optimize data for the best possible outcome

  • Excellent attention to detail

  • And you also love movies, filmmakers, and the creative process around making films and shows – and ideally, you have worked in the field, for example, in film marketing or production.
