We are seeking a dynamic Fluidic Engineer to champion the success and efficiency of our gene synthesis processes.

Your role will encompass supporting development of our synthesis pipeline, driving development of Elegen’s DNA production, fostering collaboration with cross-functional teams, and providing critical input to developing our DNA synthesis abilities. Your contributions will significantly enhance the overall functionality and capabilities for our core R&D engineering team.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Design, troubleshoot and optimize Elegen’s oligo-synthesizer platform.
  • Contribute to fluidic architecture and the design of custom fluidic sub-system components (i.e., microfluidic chips and fluidic interfaces).
  • Optimize synthesizer workflows and evaluate advanced prototypes.
  • Apply reliability models to develop test requirements and protocols.
  • Execute DOEs and perform statistical analyses to verify critical specifications.
  • Perform failure analysis and issue triage of fluidic sub-systems and synthesizer operation.
  • Conduct clear and concise communication with peers and stakeholders through oral updates, written reports, and technical presentations.

Essential Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum of B.S. and 3 years of related experience; or M.S. and 1 year; PhD in a relevant field preferred (such as Engineering, Bioengineering, Applied Physics or a related discipline).
  • 0-5 years of experience in a R&D role in life sciences.

Salary and Benefits:

The annual base salary compensation for this role, if based in California is: $100,000 - $125,000. Compensation may be different in other locations. Final compensation also includes bonus, equity and benefits. Specific offer packages are determined by multiple factors, including candidate skill, experience, expertise, and location.
