What We're Looking For

We're looking for an experienced, people minded Claim Specialist Team Lead to manage a team of high-performing Claims Specialists. This role is essential to maintaining billing quality, supporting team development, exemplifying customer service and partnering cross-functionally to drive continuous improvement in our billing team workflows.

As a Claim Specialist Team Lead at DayDream, you’ll oversee daily operations for a group of 3–6 billers who support multiple practices. You’ll monitor performance, coach team members, and ensure consistent execution of our internal standards both for dental billing and customer service. You’ll also represent your pod in initiatives that shape how we grow by collaborating closely with Engineering, Onboarding, and company leadership to build a better billing experience for our clients and team.

Compensation: $75,000-$82,000 annual salary plus full time employee benefits

Core Responsibilities

  • Oversee billing operations for a pod or pods supporting multiple practices

  • Ensure billing and customer service standards are met at all times

  • Manage team client assignments, time-off coverage, and escalated customer service issues

  • Coordinate vacation schedules, approve PTO requests, participate in hiring and firing decisions, ensure the right team fit and performance standards

  • Represent your pod in discussions that inform the direction and progress of the company

  • Develop and maintain SOPs and internal knowledge base articles for scalable team operations

  • Set and monitor pod priorities based on team capacity and client needs

  • Use sound judgment to triage issues and delegate work efficiently

  • Accountable for pod performance, quality, and productivity

Performance Metrics

  • Maintains pod SLA metrics for claim submission, payment posting and outstanding claim follow up.

  • Ensures team SLA adherence > 95%

Developmental Activities

  • Leads weekly pod standups and cross-training discussions

  • Conducts regular 1:1s with each pod member, providing structured bi-weekly coaching and support

  • Conducts 90-day evaluations and annual performance reviews

  • Participates in hiring strategy and QA calibration sessions

  • Attends onboarding calls for new clients and teammates to ensure smooth transitions

  • Pilots and tracks process improvements across assigned practices

  • Collaborates with engineering to suggest and test billing workflow enhancements

  • Reports on the impact of process changes and recommends system-wide improvements

What You’ll Bring

  • 8+ years of experience in dental RCM, including claims submission, follow-up, and denial management

  • 2+ years of experience managing or coaching a team in a healthcare or billing environment

  • Familiarity with dental billing software and comfort with tools like Excel or Google Sheets

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and proactive problem-solving ability

  • A collaborative, systems-minded approach with a strong interest in improving internal tools and workflows

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, but not required

Compensation Range: $75K - $82K
