About DayDream
We help dentists get paid for the work they do. In this $165B market, our product simplifies the complex process of verifying insurance coverage, submitting claims, appealing denials, billing patients, and maintaining clean books. As a result of how complex this process is and how many things get lost in the process, dentists can lose 10–20% of their revenue!
What this leads to is the thing patients hate about the American healthcare system: it’s inefficient, unaffordable, and just too d*mn confusing. We work with a lot of dentists and they don’t love it either. Dentists want to treat you, help you, and see you smile.
We believe that by automating parts of revenue cycle management, we increase financial transparency for everyone involved—patients, providers—and help support small business owner dentists across America.
The Role
We’re looking for a Platform Engineer who’s obsessed with building fast, reliable, and secure systems—and giving product engineers the tools they need to ship with confidence. You’ll be the backbone of our infra, observability, and deployment pipeline, owning everything from monitoring and alerting to networking, security, and CI/CD.
Responsibilities
Own our observability stack (Datadog) and ensure our systems are monitored, alerting, and self-healing
Build and maintain secure, scalable cloud infrastructure (we use AWS)
Define and evolve our networking, access control, and security posture
Improve and manage CI/CD pipelines to help us ship safely and frequently
Design and scale internal tooling that helps engineers move faster
Set up and manage robust data infra to support product and analytics use cases
Drive incident response, on-call rotation, and postmortem culture
Requirements
Experience with observability tooling (especially Datadog), and a strong intuition for what to measure.
Deep comfort with cloud infrastructure (AWS), Terraform, and containerized environments
Strong understanding of networking, IAM, and system-level security
Experience setting up and managing CI/CD systems (we use GitHub Actions)
Familiarity with data infra: warehouses, pipelines, monitoring, etc.
In-person in San Francisco, 5 days a week
Signs You’re a Good Fit
You've been the first infra hire or platform lead at a startup
You’ve built tools that made other engineers 10x more productive
You’ve got strong opinions on infrastructure, but you’re pragmatic about tradeoffs
