To that end, our Inventory Art Handlers are responsible for ensuring the safety, security, and integrity of all works, artifacts, and collections from museums across the world, regional art galleries, and private venues while in the care of Crozier Fine Arts. In addition to physical requirements, this role also provides knowledge and a keen eye during inventory and warehouse projects working closely with both the Collections Manager and Warehouse Manager.

  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 AM to 5 PM

  • Location: Long Island City, NY 11101

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Handle, move, wrap, pack, and crate art objects, decorative arts, and/or furniture

  • Install/de-install artworks in the warehouse viewing gallery using proper techniques and tools

  • Conduct inventory checks and inspection reports for various types of art objects entering or stored within the warehouse

  • Oversee receiving, storing, moving, and shiping of artworks and other art objects, and related reporting in accordance with established procedures

  • Organize and maintain operational tools and materials. Also, safely operates tools and machinery

  • Ensuring the safe handling of artworks for packing/crating in the warehouse

  • Load/unload trucks to ensure safe transit of all items

  • Assist in other Crozier departments and warehouses as needed

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2 Year Previous Experience with Art Collections, Art Inventory or Art Handling with Gallery, Museum, or Commercial Arts Company or 2 Year Degree in Art (ie Studio Art, Fine Art, Art History or related field)

  • Understand industry-standard techniques and materials for packing, crating, and installing techniques/materials

  • Skills - E ffective communication with clients/management/coworkers; s trong attention to detail; discretion; follow-through; team player ; self-motivated; and able to work well under pressure

  • Ability to operate various tools and equipment such as pallet jacks, j-bars, and dollies. Forklift certification not required, but beneficial.

  • Physical Requirements - lifting, moving, heavy objects (in excess of 75 lbs), bending, kneeling, crouching, etc. Must be able to stand for extended periods of time and lift a min. of 50lbs on their own.

Reasonably expected salary range: $50,200.00 - $62,800.00
