Senior Network Engineer

The Senior Network Engineer reports to the Manager of the Service Transition Global IT team. The role is responsible for implementing the technology and solution capabilities required to meet the company’s growing IT requirements, certifications, audit, Infra coding, regulatory assessments, and customer requirements. The individual also interacts with operations, ensuring strong alignment, partnership and focus on the defined IT priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
Global Networking Infrastructure
Responsibilities include:
Implementing, maintaining, and supporting network infrastructure systems, primarily focused on the Cisco, Meraki, Velo, F5 , Checkpoint, Cloud, Vmware and Nutanix networking platforms.
Full lifecycle management for all equipment in Iron Mountain Data Centers and Field offices
Implement and maintain scripting & automation systems for ease of operations.
Implement and maintain advanced Data Center Network Segmentation techniques to enhance security posture
Implement and maintain next generation wireless infrastructure
Implement and maintain next generation SD-WAN technologies
Oversight of networking asset management, including maintenance of component inventory and related documentation
Participation on Project Teams:
Reviewing and assisting with the development of deployment scripting
Guides and mentors fellow network administrators, engineers, and project team members on related topics
Project execution, including partnering with PM, Risk Management, QA Testing, and production roll-outs
Support public cloud platforms, such as GCP, Azure, and AWS
Develops and maintains capacity management reports and trend analysis
Team Engagement:
Participate in Execution:
Implement systems according to EIT strategies and standards to meet specific objectives. for the sub-function(s) and develops policies/procedures to support the solution.
Operate as a member team supporting projects and systems globally.
Complexity/Skills:
Broad knowledge of all areas within particular IT sub-functions.
Applies depth of knowledge in function derived from experience in technical and demonstrates strong communication skills.
Continuous learning and development of skill set and knowledge transfer to team members.
Develop and mentor team members as appropriate to promote strong engagement across the Iron Mountain teams.
Maintains strong partnerships with suppliers and vendors
Manage escalations related to committed deliverables
Reporting:
Produce regular and accurate management reports related to KPIs/KRIs, metrics, deliverable status and progress of security and compliance related initiatives.
Present to Senior Leaders on status of initiatives and service improvements as required
Functional Knowledge, Skills, and Competencies:
Knowledge of Advanced Cisco Systems Platforms, including ACI Switching, WIreless, ISE, Tetration, and ASA
Knowledge of Advanced SD-WAN functionality and principles
Knowledge of Advanced Content Delivery Platforms, such as F5
Knowledge of Advanced Scripting and Automation Platforms, such as Ansible and Terraform
Knowledge of Public Cloud Networking techniques
Excellent written, presentation and oral communication skills
Demonstrated ability to communicate and influence at all levels
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service
Good decision making, human relations, and organization skills
Good understanding of the tools and techniques used in process improvement
The ability to work in a matrix environment
Familiarity and/or experience working with 3rd party partners/vendors and professional services
Implements and evaluates service & solution goals.
Anticipates developments in the field / deployments, in order to support continuous improvement
Provides support, direction and guidance to Global IT team members, supervising and coordinating their activities and assisting team members in reaching their potential performance levels
Business Expertise:
The senior Network Engineer is expected to understand how EIT can support Iron Mountain’s Business model and objectives. organization's business lines and products, underlying infrastructure services and platforms both on premises and cloud based, and optimize these platforms to maximize efficiency and business value.
Develops innovative and practical solutions to project challenges, identifies and works proactively with all levels of the organization to mitigate risks and issues. Collaborates with Support teams, Subject Matter Experts and Project Managers to develop and implement realistic short term and long term solutions.
