Job Summary:

As part of the Data Center Operations Internship program, you will receive on the job training during the Fall Semester program. Job Responsibilities:

The Data Center Operations Internship participant will get exposure to our Critical Facilities Technician and Service Delivery roles that provide technical and facility support in a 24x7 data center environment, including maintenance and oversight of electrical, HVAC, civil and building management systems. IMDC is looking for self-motivated team members who have a strong sense of urgency, and dedication to your team, our customers and IMDC’s vision. This is a full-time shift position, and shift work will be required.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of IMDC’s critical power, cooling/environmental, security & support systems and facilities to meet or exceed uptime service levels.

  • Proactively support the safety of the environment & occupants and ensure all safety procedures are adhered to while performing work.

  • Perform limited maintenance tasks to ensure smooth operation of the data center heating and cooling systems and overall facility.

  • Permit and monitor contract vendors.

  • Monitor, resolve and update all assigned service tickets using IMDC’s ticketing system. Including trouble tickets and customer installations of electrical and physical equipment.

  • Take daily operational readings of all mechanical and electrical equipment and inspect buildings, grounds, and all equipment for unsafe or malfunctioning operation.

  • Escort and periodically check vendors while performing maintenance to ensure that the rules and operating procedures are followed.

  • Proactively identify issues and take the needed steps to resolve them. Assist with service delivery tasks when needed.

Functional Knowledge Skills & Competencies:

Education Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing an Associates degree

  • Must be enrolled in a local Phoenix, AZ community college in fall semester

  • Graduation date of December 2024 or later

  • Pursuing a discipline in Information Systems, or Technology or strong desire to understand technology hardware

Requirements:

  • Participation in the internship program requires that you are located and able to work at our Phoenix, AZ facilities

  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without restriction

  • This is a 20-40 hours per week program (Monday-Friday), that runs from August 12th-December 13th (Eligible Working Hours are 7am-11:30pm)

  • Create a consistent work week schedule during semester

  • Must be a US Citizen

Technical Skill Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of computer hardware

Professional Skill Qualifications:

  • Multi-tasking - we use several different systems to manage ticket queues and work tasks can change throughout the day.

  • Attention to detail - ability to understand and follow a documented process and Iron Mountain’s safety code, role is very process driven.

  • Organization & prioritization - following processes and managing your time with minimal supervision to get work done efficiently and on time.

  • Dedication & desire to learn - we would like you to grow your career within Iron Mountain.

  • Customer service mentality - we are customer focused.

  • Opportunities for overtime work will be available.

  • Working hours and shifts are varied and nights, weekends and holidays may be required.

  • The ability to obtain security clearance via government or other agency background check may be required for customer support
