Cellanome is adding a Paralegal to our growing team. Reporting into the Head of Intellectual Property, your role will be pivotal in ensuring efficient management of IP assets and some contract support. The job duties include:
- Establish IP processes, manage workflows, and improve efficiency at a small, but growing legal department.
- Assist in the preparation, filing, and management of US and international patent applications.
- Manage patent and trademark portfolios, including docketing deadlines and tracking filings.
- Coordinate with external counsel and international agents to ensure timely filings and responses.
- Draft, review, and manage legal documents, including NDAs, consulting agreements, declarations, powers of attorney, and related documents.
- Maintain accurate and organized records, both electronic and physical.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies and external regulations related to IP management.
- Prepare reports and presentations summarizing IP portfolio status and updates for internal stakeholders.
- Serve as a liaison between internal teams (R&D, legal, and business development) and external counsel.
- Provide training and support to internal teams on IP-related matters as needed.
- Manage legal department’s billing, budgets, and invoicing processes.
- Coordinate meetings, prepare agendas, and take minutes for IP-related discussions.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Notary certified.
Role Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience; Paralegal certification preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of paralegal experience with a focus on patents and trademarks, ideally in a biotech or life sciences environment.
- In-depth knowledge of U.S. and international patent and trademark systems.
- Proficiency with IP docketing systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- High level of discretion and professionalism in handling confidential information.
We provide competitive total compensation packages, including base pay, benefits, and equity. In California, the estimated base salary range for this position is $140,000 - $165,000/year. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
