We are seeking a highly experienced and visionary Principal Engineer to lead our performance and scalability testing initiatives for networking products. The ideal candidate will have an extensive background in networking, particularly BGP and cloud networking across multiple public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI. This role requires a strategic mindset, deep technical expertise, and the ability to lead and mentor a team of engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Lead Performance Testing: Design, develop, and execute performance and scalability tests for network products, ensuring they meet rigorous standards.
- Innovate with Open-Source Tools: Utilize and innovate with tools such as iperf/ethr to measure and optimize network performance.
- Technical Leadership: Provide strategic direction and technical leadership in troubleshooting complex network issues end-to-end.
- Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work with cross-functional teams to drive enhancements in network performance based on comprehensive test results.
- Documentation and Reporting: Develop and maintain detailed testing processes, documentation, and reports to ensure transparency and continuous improvement.
- Mentorship: Mentor and guide engineering teams, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Stay Ahead of Trends: Keep up-to-date with industry trends and advancements in cloud networking, integrating new knowledge into strategic planning and execution.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of networking, with deep expertise in BGP and cloud networking.
- Proficient in using multiple public clouds (AWS, Azure, GCP, OCI), with a strong preference for multi-cloud experience.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux environments and command-line utilities.
- Performance Testing Tools: Extensive experience with network performance testing tools like iperf.
- Strong programming skills in Terraform, shell scripting, and Python for automation and testing purposes.
- Proven track record in diagnosing and troubleshooting complex network issues.
- Excellent leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor engineering teams.

US Pay Range
The US annual base salary range for this full-time position is $185,000-$255,000 + benefits + 401(k) match + equity. The pay range is determined by the role, work location, job-related skills, level, experience and relevant education. [Certain roles are eligible to earn sales commission, depending on the terms of the applicable plan.] The range displayed is the minimum and maximum target base salary and is applicable only for new hires for the listed position located in the US.
