What You’ll Do

  • Develop control systems for Anduril’s wide range of airbreathing engines, including piston and turbine applications.
  • Develop & work with engine control systems including FADEC’s, ECU’s, Starter-Generators and related hardware.
  • Work with actuators, sensors, connectors and architecture of engine control systems.
  • Develop test stands, instrumentation packages and equipment to support engine test and integration.
  • Test, diagnose, and analyze engine data on test stands, on test expeditions, and in flight test.
  • Work on the coolest engines in the aviation business.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
  • 5-10 years relevant engineering experience in automotive / passenger car / commercial vehicle / aerospace / defense industry.
  • Familiarity with engines, engine controls, and/or testing of engines or powertrain components.
  • Ability to collaborate well with other electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers.
  • Practical experience with diagnostics monitoring, failure detection and data analysis.
  • Mechatronics experience; sensor selection, design and assembly of actuators, setup of data acquisition systems, assemble wire harnesses and debug/troubleshoot systems.
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export controlled data.

Desired Qualifications

  • Masters or advanced degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Mechatronics Engineering, Computer Science or similar.
  • Strong fundamentals in control systems theory, linear systems analysis, stability, and controller design.
  • Strong understanding, and intuition for the physics of basic propulsion systems, motion control systems, and heat transfer.
  • Ability to assist with part selection, board design, and product design efforts.
  • Experience designing mechanical parts (CAD). Understanding of manufacturing methods (machining, sheet metal, composites, 3D printing, injection molding, etc.).
  • Experience procuring parts and working in a machine shop. Working knowledge of machine safety and shop safety protocols.
  • Experience with controls system development, modeling, and implementation in an embedded environment.
  • Experience with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, current-probes, and automation of tests.
  • Experience with reusable device drivers and communications protocol libraries.
  • Experience in embedded controls, controls integration, or relevant hardware areas.
  • Experience with C/C++ and common languages (Python, MATLAB, etc.).
  • Experience with CANape or similar CAN interface tool.
  • Experience with ST Micro, NXP, or Atmel microprocessors. USB, MIPI CSI2, SPI, I2C, CAN, CANFD, ARINC-825, ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553, UART/RS232/RS422/RS485 communications experience is a plus.
  • Experience in the design and implementation of automotive control electronics.
  • Excellent proficiency with creating controls-oriented dynamic system models of thermal, hydraulic, or mechanical systems in MATLAB/Simulink/Python etc.
  • Prior experience developing embedded systems for automotive powertrain controls is a plus.
US Salary Range
$120,000$180,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
