WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Systems engineering and prioritization
- Accountable for the management, architecture and technical execution of several small drone system products delivering to multiple business lines.
- Producing high quality simulations, analysis, tests, verification processes to guide product design
- Ability to decompose complex systems into functional parts, with clearly defined interfaces and requirements for each
- Requirements derivation and validation
- De-risk technical objectives and manage team prioritization
- Setup trade spaces and guide decisions around “how the system comes together”
- Unblock engineering progress. This spans from RCA efforts on critical engineering issues to finding mechanisms to unblock the functional teams where stuck
- Identify “what is missing” or “what is important but not being managed”
- Accountable for the shared technical output of the team
- Recognition of internal customer needs and ability to support the objectives of the business
- Technical management
- Define milestones that break up delivery into manageable chunks
- Manage a delivery schedule
- Balance short term “urgent” needs with long term “important” needs
- Define technical success criteria for the deliverable
- Align team priorities through reviews and cross-functional meetings
- Manage and escalate risks (“if it’s not on track, are you raising the flag to get the team help before it’s broken”)
- Assist in creation of customer, executive review, and product-team materials
- Assist in customer and program management
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience in a senior role leading system design and development from initial concept through test and delivery to customers
- Basic understanding of Aerodynamics, Seeker Technology, Inertial Measurement Units (IMUs), Control Actuation Servos, Modeling and Simulation and how those disciplines relate to overall system performance
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical field-preferred Robotics, Physics, Mechanical, Electrical, or Software engineering, and/or equivalent experience in a relevant field
- Experience with data analysis, rapid prototyping, and early-stage customer deployment
- Hands-on build and prototyping of complex robotic systems
- Familiarity with concepts of mechatronic design, firmware + software system design, sensor physics, tracking & calibration, and data-backed decision making
- Ability to engage technically with mechanical, electrical, firmware, sensors, and robotics software leads
- Ability to lead a cross-functional team through design trades while meeting program deadlines
- High ownership, mission-oriented mentality. Desire to see the product meet the end need of the customer
- Extremely organized and detail-oriented, with strong verbal & written communication skills
- A sincere commitment to a positive, inclusive, and collaborative culture
- Must be able to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret security clearance
- Ability to travel as required for test planning and execution
The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
