Anduril’s Rocket Motor Systems group is seeking a Solid Rocket Motor (SRM) Mechanical Engineering Manager to join our team. The Rocket Motor Systems group designs, develops, and manufactures next-generation solid rocket motors for defense and space applications at Anduril.
As the Mechanical Engineering Manager, you will manage a team of mechanical design and analysis engineers working various SRM programs. Responsibilities will include technical leadership and oversight of the work being performed in your group, as well as people management responsibilities. The right person for this role has direct, hands-on experience with the design, analysis, and manufacture of solid rocket motors and their key subsystems, such as motor cases, nozzles, propellant grains, and igniters. WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Provide technical leadership to mechanical design engineers in our Rocket Motor Systems organization
  • Implement and enforce current policies and procedures, and develop new ones as needed
  • Be a front-line people manager for a team of mechanical design engineers.
  • Peer review engineering product definition, structural and thermal analysis.
  • Coordinate with other engineering disciplines on cross-disciplinary items
  • Establish best practices for the RMS Hardware organization.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience with the design, development, and manufacture of solid rocket motors.
  • Strong technical background in mechanical design, structural analysis, or thermal analysis.
  • Strong people management skills.
  • Exceptional research and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to travel to other Anduril sites, customer sites, or supplier sites as business demand dictates. Anticipated 10-25% travel.
  • U.S. Person status is required as this position needs to access export-controlled data.A minimum of 10 years’ experience with the design, development, and manufacture of solid rocket motors.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree (masters or doctorate) in engineering or engineering management.
  • Experience with Solidworks CAD software and/or Abaqus FEA software
  • Certification in Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing.
  • Expertise in engineering tool development in Microsoft Excel, MATLAB, and/or Python.
  • Ability to obtain and hold a U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary offer may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations.
