What You Will Contribute To Altos

As a Preclinical Safety and Pathology Research Associate, you will oversee the planning, execution, and management of preclinical studies to ensure compliance with study objectives, best practices, and regulatory standards when applicable. This role involves close collaboration with research teams to design studies that effectively support drug development and other scientific inquiries.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the design, scheduling, and implementation of preclinical studies, such as internal cross-functional studies requiring safety or pathologic endpoints, and safety studies being performed by contract research organizations, including Good Laboratory Practice (GLP)
  • Provide wet lab support as needed for internal toxicologic and pathology studies
  • Be primary point of contact for researchers and collaborators within the organization requiring pathology study support
  • Collaborate with scientists and researchers to develop and refine study protocols and enhance data quality
  • Assure appropriate procedures for biological sample collection, shipping, processing, and analysis are outlined in study protocol
  • Assist in the development of study budgets and ensure that studies are conducted within financial guidelines
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and ethical standards for animal care and use
  • Monitor study progress and provide regular updates to senior management and stakeholders
  • Manage the documentation and reporting processes for preclinical studies
  • Develop fit-for-purpose study report templates
  • Review study reports to assure accuracy and clarity of data presentation
  • Manage data, document, and sample archiving

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a life sciences field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in toxicology / pathology related field
  • Proven experience in a preclinical research environment, particularly in a coordination or management role
  • Strong understanding of laboratory procedures and regulatory requirements pertaining to preclinical research
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and leadership skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • This role is crucial for ensuring that preclinical studies are conducted efficiently, ethically, and in alignment with overarching research goals. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in life sciences and a strong track record in research coordination
  • Familiarity with GLP standards is a plus

The salary range for San Diego, CA:

  • Research Associate I: $80,750 - $109,250
  • Research Associate II: $96,900 - $131,100
  • Senior Research Associate: $108,800 - $147,200

Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location.
