Who You Are

The Specialist will work within the Light Microscopy Hub and report to the Hub Director. The Light Microscopy Hub broadly supports all imaging efforts, spanning screening, confocal, and super-resolution imaging. The Specialist will play a key role in supporting and participating in the exciting R&D initiatives at Altos Labs. The Specialist will be actively involved in Core activities with a strong focus on training, instrument maintenance and quality control, sample preparation and optimization, histology sample preparation and imaging, IHC and ISH support and imaging.

What You Will Contribute To Altos

Responsibilities

  • Training scientists in microscope operation and sample preparation
  • Developing image analysis pipelines
  • Working with vendors to upgrade, customize and maintain instrumentation
  • Independently operating microscopes
  • Preparation of IHC/ISH samples
  • Support for automated sample tracking and data ingestio

Minimum Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Biology, Chemistry, or Bioengineering
  • 5-10 years of experience in biological/medical/pharmaceutical research
  • Multiple years of experience with immunofluorescence, live cell imaging, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization
  • Highly organized and self-motivated with meticulous attention to detail

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with advanced and super-resolution imaging modalities
  • Strong communication skills, with proven ability to work as part of a diverse team
  • Ability to multitask and work across projects and groups
  • High level of computer literacy and ability to maintain an electronic lab notebook
  • Experience with standard image analysis software and packages

Salary range: $124,100 to $167,900
