The Team
Alloy’s Antibody Discovery Services (ADS) team is adding a new senior leadership position for a Vice President of Antibody Research Programs based in Waltham, Massachusetts. Our antibody discovery services team seamlessly integrates our proprietary in vivo, in vitro and in silico platforms to collaborate with others to discover and optimize antibody-based therapeutics. In this role, you’ll work with a team of 50 colleagues in Waltham supported by a global Alloy team of nearly 100 people across our sites in Cambridge, UK, Basel, Switzerland and Athens, Georgia. At ADS, we employ cutting-edge technologies in molecular biology, protein sciences, B-cell cloning, phage and yeast display, novel antibody formats and analytics to identify and optimize antibody-based therapeutics. You will be a key member of the team overseeing antibody discovery strategies and program execution at the Waltham site with the goal of making medicine together with our external partners.

The Role
As the Vice President of Antibody Research Programs, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and leading strategies for our antibody discovery initiatives. This key leadership position entails driving the discovery of novel antibody-based therapeutics, including monoclonal and bispecific antibodies and T-cell receptor mimetic therapeutics. You will be personally responsible for overseeing dozens of therapeutic discovery programs every year by working collaboratively with a range of large pharma companies, emerging biotech companies and academic collaborators. In this role, you are guaranteed to be making medicine that will be in patients in the near term and, with any luck, will ultimately be approved therapeutics. We take our responsibility to our partners and their patients very seriously and we will ask you and your team to take great care as well.

A crucial aspect of this role involves providing a deep understanding of drug discovery projects to drive effective project strategies in collaboration with our partners. This is a highly scientific position that requires your expertise in antibodies specifically and drug discovery more generally. You will ensure executional excellence by evaluating scientific strategies, reviewing data in real time and making the necessary scientific adjustments to ensure a successful therapeutic discovery campaign. In addition, you will manage teams overseeing the successful completion of project activities, accomplishing shared objectives, and meeting rigorous partner timelines. Additionally, you will spearhead new technological innovation to implement and optimize cutting-edge technologies and to develop new methods, while also improving existing processes to advance therapeutic discovery projects with maximum efficiency. Our goal is always to be the most responsive and attentive discovery service partner in the industry.

Strong communication skills are essential for this role, as you will interact with a diverse group of stakeholders both within and outside the company. This involves providing regular project updates and presentations to internal stakeholders to ensure alignment with project goals and timelines, and addressing any potential issues or concerns promptly. You will also be responsible for partner communication throughout the project life cycles, including drafting research proposals, updating project status and timelines, and presenting final deliveries.

This role will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Antibody Discovery Services in Waltham, MA, with autonomy owning various stakeholders, projects, and tasks in a dynamic start-up environment while keeping up the pace of Alloy. You will have direct, daily contact with our CEO, President of Research, CSO and other C-level executives.
